Freezer Storage Times
« on: October 06, 2016, 02:11:19 PM »
List of storage lifetimes for frozen foods.  Not written in stone, but a good rule of thumb.

I find some of the listed times to be shorter than expected...  My experience is that things like hotdogs stay edible much longer than stated.  Milk lifetime is also too short, in my experience.

Those must be "best used by" or the same concept. We routinely freeze things, particularly meats, much longer than that. You real enemy is "freezer burn" and that can be protected  from by double wrapping. Never just place items that are "grocery wrapped" or freezer paper, bag right over it to keep it safe.

Even  "freezer burned" meat can be salvage by jerking it (not much of a sacrifice to me).
