Ration bars, homemade
« on: September 17, 2016, 10:20:58 AM »
Fairly easy recipe to make ration bars.

2400 calories, divided into four pieces for ONE FULL DAYS MEALS.

You will also need water as these are dry...

I do not think these will be suitable for long term storage, due to the olive oil and nuts, plus the water in some of the ingredients.

DO rotate these in your EDC bag.  They will still keep for several weeks, and If you rotate them, you will always have relatively fresh food.

A batch of these will supply several people for at least a three days (assuming you make 10-12 bars (2400 cal. each).

Look at the website, which shows a batch of roughly four bars (2400 cal. each).  Adjust your batch size depending on the number of people and number of days desired.

Remember that 2400 calories is AN ESTIMATE based on average daily exercise.

You can easily double or triple this number if you must be out in bad weather and/or must do strenuous exercise.  More is better and they will last long enough to get you to a safer place.
