This is a report / article by Selco, a survivor of the Balkan war (1990's).  It describes some barter experiences which bear little resemblance to our "civilized" barter training.  Worth the read if only to be prepared for what may... happen.

Note that paper money was still being used, but the inflation rate was whatever the guy-with-gun wants it to be.  There is a lesson there for those with eyes and ears...
