Example of what is happening now: Venezuela
« on: March 13, 2015, 09:02:35 AM »
For those not aware of the world situation, Venezuela is a prime example of the collapse of national infrastructure.  Food delivery and availability are almost gone and rationing is in place.  Read this article by Tess Pennington of ReadyNutrition.com which reports installation of fingerprint scanners in grocery stores to control "hording" of food.

We don't have a "need" for fingerprint scanners in this country because so many purchases are done via credit card.  If you use them, you are operating within a controlled market, not a free market.  Consider what would (will) happen when food cannot be delivered to local stores...  How could this happen here? For instance, If oil prices were allowed to rise again, could you cope with the added costs?  The farming industry would (will) be directly hit and higher prices will be rapidly passed to the consumer.  The increase transportation cost will add to the food price increase, also passed to the consumer.

If you doubt this, remember that Venezuela is a major oil producing nation and yet they are failing to supply food to their citizens.  They sell their oil overseas.

Now look at the US. which was (past tense) also a major producer of oil, but changed to a consumer of foreign oil and curtailed domestic production in favor of cheap imported oils...  What happens when the foreign supply drys up?  Remember the oil embargo of a few years ago?

Don't worry, be happy...  You are prepared, right?
