K7KBJ @kjuenke
2d
Hi JC. Glad you are here.

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
I have irrigation to my garden. Have some other outlets also. I have to be a little careful, well is not a huge supplier. Have two 500 gallon tanks for storage.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX
2d
Cool, JC. Welcome.

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
My youngest is really getting into prepping. I am very proud of her.

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
It doesn't really get that hot for long periods...so you probably don't have big issue

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX
2d
Any storage at all helps

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
Have her join us for TRT...

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
It can get up into the 90s even low 100s. She is welcome to come with me.

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
I intend to bring some solar generators to to try out at TRT

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
JC ask your dad about the race...It's fun and you get to watch hundreds of crazies

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
Good. Kieth, I have a new solar set up too.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX
2d
I am going to go ahead and answer the questions.

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
Ken, what kind of digital systems will be used at TRT?

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
Ken won't be there this year

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
We just got a 2000 generator/inverter.

Idaho70 @Idaho70
2d
Will not be the same without Ken keeping us straight and narrow.

David - K7DWW @k7dww
2d
You got that right

K7KBJ @kjuenke
2d
???

K7KBJ @kjuenke 2d
Where will I be?

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
You said you and Stacie would not attend this year...What's changed

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
David said you are sneaking out of TRT this year.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Food storage recipes are pretty much all the same ones I use now, except simply using other than fresh foods. I do have a few I guess that are strictly prep foods. I will post them on the forums on nnpg.net

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
She is good at keeping people in line.

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
Except for you!

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
She tries, I just do not pay attention.

JC @JC 2d
A daughter can dream.....

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
Kristin...are you going to be able to attend our June event?

KK7CON- Kristin @KK7CON 2d
Yes I am going to come on Friday and Sunday

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
Outstanding

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Question 2. I do believe that some people have taken prepping too far. However, all of those that I have seen that I think have are all ones that have spent well over $100,000 for weapons and ammunition, and very little else. As long as prepping is done in a balanced manner, I do not think you can go overboard. Of course, not shorting daily life and family As long as those are well taken care of for family and around the home, then any amount of preps either extends the time you have or increases the number of people you can help.

W7LTE @W7LTE 2d
Well said Jerry.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Kilo Seven Kilo Kilo X-ray checking in from Reno via chat. Cannot use the radio as I am surroundeed by concrette here in the Peppermill.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Thank you.

KK7CON- Kristin @KK7CON 2d
Excited to see the class line up!

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
One of the things I highly recommend for prepping recipes is not really not a recipe, but the Mountain House Pilot crackers. Not quite the same as bread, but the next best thing. Slightly sweeter than saltines and Ritz, and not too salty, they go great with soups, stews, chili and do actually do okay with preserves and such.

W7LTE @W7LTE 2d
I'm a huge fan of pasta and have a few family sauce recipes. Would it be feasible to make a tomato or cream based sauce (usually with sausage or some kind of meat in it) and completely dehydrate it to make it shelf stable? I know I can can it. But just wondering?

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
You can go to far like Jerry said going into something to the exclusion of other important life sectors. Especially spending too much money on prepping and ignoring family needs.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
I keep about a year of shelf-stable grocery store foods, with a handful of LTS foods to fill in some things that will not keep for a year from the grocery store. Longer than that, and in addition, If I have freeze-dried or other LTS versions of soup and stew vegetables and some LTS meats I am golden. I also keep plenty of dried, just add hot water potatoes for mashed potatoes and meat, I am also pretty good.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
I store a ton (figeratively) of lentils and have found that as long as I do have some other meat, I use lentils in many dishes as a substitute for ground beef. I have an excellent chili that gets really good remarks. I have even used lentils in spaghetti sauce. Never made a meatloaf, but that is my next set of expreiments until I have one perfected.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Oh, and David, for a small piece of the action I would be glad to help with dehydration ideas.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Oh, a recipie I use around the holidays I like much better than pumpking pie is carrot cream pie. I have not done one with freeze-dried carrots, but I intend to do so as soon as I can get some.

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
There you go David, no more excuses for you

W7LTE @W7LTE 2d
That is a great idea! Nutmeg and cinnamon on freeze dri apples. Crunchy applesauce!

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
Looking forward to hearing about your thoughts Jerry.

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
Good evening everyone!

David - K7DWW @k7dww 2d
See you next week

KK7CON- Kristin @KK7CON 2d
Goodnight!

W7LTE @W7LTE 2d
Good night y'all

Idaho70 @Idaho70 2d
Goodnight all and 73

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Oh. A note. A friend of mine in Texas had his storage room hit and totally cleaned out of prepps. So, anyone with off-site storage be very aware of this trend. Both of use I believe were specifically targeted by people that found out we were prepers and watch until they found a weakness in the storage storage facilites.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Me, too, David. I did a lot of dehydrating in the seventies and early eighties.

JC @JC 2d
Goodnight everyon, and thank you for the welcome!

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
All kinds of things. One thing, though, do not dehydrate watermellon. It is like eating plain sugar by the spoonfiull.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
We, Terral, I, and a freind were loading up a 16' trailer from the last storage room I have here in Reno. One more load later this mongh and it will be empty and everything in Winnemucca. Saving $200 a month.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Oh. I was trying to say goodnight, since we are all three tired.

K7KKX - Jerry D Young @K7KKX 2d
Hopefully talk to you next week. Be safe and aware. Things are getting tense everywhwew.
