Beginnings of a chicken coop
« on: September 22, 2018, 04:29:22 PM »
Started on this today with the help of my brother and sister in law (actually I consider her my sis, not an in law). Just kind of making it up as we go...

Ken,

How many chickens will it contain?  What size is it?

3 chickens because that's how many my city has deemed citizens are allowed to keep :) It's about 2.5 x 4 feet inside. Still need to cut out the back for nesting boxes, so about 4 x 4 when finished. After it's done I'm putting a 4 x 8 enclosed run off the front. Hopefully that will keep them safe from cats and raccoons.

Raccoons are prone to digging under fences. And they are rather fond of chicken. To them it tastes like... Oh. Never mind the taste.

You might want to consider that when you do the run. Digging the edge of the fencing down, or putting fencing down on the ground and covering it with dirt before building the fence around and over the top.

Just my opinion.
