Some good information in this article, including the warning about MUST COOK, never eat raw.

I think that crayfish will be a good source of food in any crisis which limits your food sources.

They are also NOT likely to be the first thing that hungry crowds will be looking for...  Be stealthy if you are in a populated area...

Don't deplete the crayfish population and you will have a reliable source for perhaps years.

Crayfish traps are exactly like lobster traps, but with smaller openings.  Easy to build out of willow limbs too.

Consider, when the time comes, but definitely not now, on creating crawfish habitats in several locations in suitable waters. Do some due diligence research on where and how crawfish live, and set up those situations. A few meat scraps from time to time to get the colony established, active, and vigorous, and regular feeding with additional scraps if natural food sources are not adequate. Just do not overload the waters with the scraps as they will attract other things you do not want and can cause other problems with the waters.

Set the areas up so it is quick and easy to set and retrieve traps.

Kind of a guerrilla small stock farm.

Just my opinion.

Really good idea Jerry.

I have seen (very lately) crawfish traps along the Truckee river, inside Reno/Sparks city limits.  Not sure if those are legal here, but somebody knew about them.
