What do people suggest as the best color for equipment
« on: May 25, 2018, 09:58:47 AM »
Maybe it has been covered in another tread, if so please direct me.  Thanks

For my get home bag I use a black sling bag.

In my vehicle I use black and green usually.

Other packs range from red/blue, olive green, black, digi-camo and dark green.

What do others use and suggest.  Please list use as well.

ie: molle pouchs, mag pouchs, belt, cloths, etc.

It depends on what you want to do.

Our packs are Blue and Grey.  They are more suited for being the "grey man" where we needed to blend in with other people.  They would stand out if we were in the woods and traveling trails or off-trail.

If I needed to be "invisible" and NOT be seen, I would go with a camo color scheme suited for my environment... Summer, Fall, Winter colors.

TWP I did have a grey fanny pack that would fit a lot. But things wear out and are no longer made.
My get home pack is only made in green, black, and camo.  So I thought black would be best.

I would go with Black also, then Green.  Camo tends to stand out in a crowd...

I tend toward tans, coyote brown, other browns for the field, year round, with white covers for winter snow.

It is very difficult to have enough clothing in all the different 'best' camouflage colors/patterns for each particular area and season. I have found that khaki works in many more than any other color. Black stands out everywhere, except in very deep shade and at night. And a very deep purple is actually a better color than black for those situations, believe it or not. Not to mention black is very hot most of the time. Good in winter, maybe, but rather attention drawing.

With judicious use of a few extra pieces of cloth, and using appropriate techniques can compensate greatly for a monochromatic look such as all khaki. And I do not need nearly as many sets of clothing.

Same for bags and pouches and such. Unless something has to be fully exposed for immediate access, use a low key color pack cover, over shirt, light jacket, or other things to hide colors if need be. Several bandanas in various colors can be used to cover things on a belt, such as pouches. And often, if tucked in behind the belt, up and over the pouch, and left hanging, the cloth can be flipped up and the pouch accessed. (I am talking about subdued color bandanas, not the bright colorful patterned ones. Unless they happen to work for the situation.

Urban areas I use role camouflage, which is more the type of thing you wear, with color only being a part of it.

Just my opinion.
