Walapini's anyone?
« on: April 09, 2018, 06:22:07 AM »
No, it's not a pepper.  A walapini is a green house that is partly underground.  See: https://besurvival.com/homesteading/build-a-300-underground-greenhouse-walipini-that-grows-food-year-round  The article is a bit shallow - well written, but lacking details.  Still it is a good introduction.  Does anyone out there do this?

In the early days, the settlers would band together and build their houses nearby for safety....it seems that we have to do the opposite now....sad.

I do not, but I believe a couple of the people I talk to over the internet in a couple of northern states use them. They are particularly suited for the colder climates.

Just my opinion.

The DIY PDF in the article seems to explain a lot.
