Jerry,
Re-proof reading Dark Times #1.

Not finding any problems but have a trivia question.

Most folks are happy being a part of the Great Shepherds Flock.
Some folks choose to be wolves and prey on the flock.
Some folks choose to defend the flock and confront the wolf.

It was revealed at the end of Expedition.

Jack Travis Sandusky.

Fairly early into The Dark Times - Part 1, it is revealed that his actual surname is Quincannon, but I left it hanging what his parents actually named him. Wolfgang would not necessarily know, as he was so young at the time he might not have even heard it, or remember it if he did hear it.

It will be specified in Part 2, fairly early on.

Thanks Jerry,

You know I've read DTimes more than twice and you know how long I've had it.  I just NOW wondered what JT's real name was.

I knew Jack Travis but like he said "It's just a made up name"

Let me know when you want eyes on for Pt 2.

Jerry,
I like the development you've done with Johnny (Sly) in Expedition and in DT Part 1.

You've taken him from the initial evaluation that Jennifer read of high intelligence but somewhat immature to being someone who is trusted to deplane and take a defensive position alongside One Shot or back Inny up when they go back up a trail.

I think he's someone who I'd have back me up on a hand line when attacking a fire.

Yes. He is the type that simply needed encouragement, guidance, training, and mentoring to become the type of person that could back you on a hose, or be the nozzleman. Or cover your back during an op.

Thanks WolfBrother.

Saying someone is the type that you’d have back you up on a handline is big time praise about trustworthiness.

I know that for a fact.

When I was living in Wyoming a very long time ago, I was on the volunteer fire department for the area. We were called out for a 'small' grass/brush fire near a house. Well, it was a bit bigger than little. It was a rural home, with a 1,000 gallon propane tank. There was a good chance the house and shop both would become involved, and both had propane appliances. The fire was getting close to the propane tank so I had my handline guy keeping things wetted down so I could approach the tank and turn the valve off just in case.

Well, he did lay down a decent spread on the path to the tank. I had a bit of a time with the rusted latch on the valve cover of the tank, and then the valve itself. I did get it turned off thought.

Now, part of the problem was my own fault for not maintaining better situational awareness. But the fire was burning around the homeowners outdoor grill, and the LT wanted the propane turned off ASAP, so I let my attention slip a bit and concentrated on the propane tank.

When I turned around after getting the valve shut, my handline guy was nowhere to be seen, and I was now inside a ring of fire. Fortunately, the grass was only three or four inches high, and the brush was spread out pretty good, so the ring of fire fire front was narrow. Even without any type of real turnout gear I was able to run through the fire line without much more damage than some scorch marks. And a really heated attitude.

Fortunately my brother intercepted me before I got to the guy that was supposed to be covering me with that handline. He had seen me go through the fire and headed toward me to see if I was okay. And he knew who it was that was supposed to be covering me. And he knew pretty much how I would feel about it.

So the guy lived to screw up another day, but I went back to Missouri not long after that and never had to work with him again.

Yup, fire and propane tanks equal FUNNNNNNN

I responded to a fire where a 25# (7 gallon) tank went up.  It was a 3 car detached garage.  When we pulled up, it was fully involved so we started protecting exposures.  About the time we got started the tank went off – scared the crap out of all of us.  About that time the owner said, “Uh, yeah, I guess I should have told you about the turkey fryer in the middle of all of that.”

Turns out they had moved the cooker inside to keep the cold north winds from bothering the cooker. So, yup BLEVEs are spectacular.

Wife was a wildland FF for the Minnesota DNR back in the 90's. Operated a J5 Bombardier tracked vehicle with a tank and hose, etc. Was working dismounted with the hose when the tank ran dry, and turned around to find the fire was between her and the vehicle. Fortunately a chopper with a drop bucket came by around that time and saw her predicament and did a drop, filling her tank and allowing her to fight her way out of the fire circle.
