My contribution;  try using honey instead of syrup in the base recipe.  I recommend placing the cookie tray in a warm oven for a couple of hours to reduce the moisture from the honey.   Then you can cut and refrigerate.

DO  NOTE:  This is NOT a long term storage food.  The oils in the peanut butter will oxidize and go rancid.

So why even make this?  Because, if you store peanut butter in your prepper stocks, you need to use it before it goes bad.  In unopened containers, peanut butter has a decent storage life, measured in many months, but it is not long term stable.

Plus, I like peanut butter.

[edit] I made some of this today, using honey.  The bars are tasty, but crumbly.  Not a bad thing, but you don't want to eat them on a carpet...  I'm bagging these and freezing.
