Our On The Air Meeting - Details
« on: January 15, 2015, 11:49:23 AM »
For all the newly licensed amateur radio operators out there, Congratulations!!!

We are very excited to announce the Northern Nevada Prepper's Group Radio Net. We have gained approval from the Sierra Nevada Amateur Radio Society (SNARS) to use their UHF/VHF repeaters that serve our area.

This net will be held each Wednesday evening at 2000 hours local time (8:00pm excluding holidays) and this is a reoccurring event for our group.
The audio from this net is posted the following Thursday right here in this forum so you can listen to it at your leisure.

The Northern Nevada Prepper’s Group Radio Net is provided to help you become familiar with your radio equipment or test out new equipment by participating in our on the air discussions of family emergency preparedness, general prepper topics and radio use and theory. You will get to check in with Northern Nevada Preppers Group Members and other HAM radio operators in the Northern Nevada Area. This HAM net will help you learn how to communicate in times of emergency when conventional communications are not working. We are a family oriented group who’s goal is to share the skills necessary to help you and your family prepare for disasters, either man made or natural and to promote a self-reliant lifestyle.

We will be using the linked repeater system maintained by SNARS on the following frequencies:

Freq. PL Offset Location
147.030 123.0 + Virginia Peak
147.150 123.0 + Mt Rose
147.210 100.0 + Peavine Peak
444.925 100.0 + Peavine Peak
444.875 100.0 + Lobdelle Peak

This linked system covers the Reno, Sparks, Carson, Carson Valley, Dayton, Fallon, Yerington, Tahoe, Truckee, and Sacramento Areas.

If you need help setting up your radio or have any questions about participating, please email Ken Juenke, K7KBJ using k7kbj@arrl.net or bring your radio to any of our future meetings.

For those of you who are not yet licensed amateur radio operators, you can listen in on the net by using the following link in your favorite web browser:

www.nnpg.caster.fm

Everyone is welcome to listen in so please log in and tune in.

We are very fortunate and excited to have this opportunity to serve the Northern Nevada Prepper community and we sincerely thank the Sierra Nevada Amateur Radio Society for the incredibly generous use of their repeater system.
