Black Death warning in NINE countries

DEATH IS COMING Black Death warning in NINE countries – including Brit holiday hotspots – amid fears PLAGUE could spread on flights from Madagascar
The deadly plague outbreak has struck Madagascar's major cities sparking fears it has yet to 'peak' and could spread into the surrounding region

The outbreak is considered a much bigger threat to the region than in previous years because it has taken on its pneumonic form - meaning it is airborne and spread by sneezing and coughing. And experts say the epidemic could still worsen as the death tolls hits 124 and more than 1,300 are left infected.

He added: "Most of the cases in the past have been of the bubonic plague but if you look at this particular outbreak, 70 percent of the cases are pneumonic plague, which is the most deadly form of the disease.

"If the treatment is not given in a very short period of time these people will end up dying."

I've been following this and I'm waiting to hear whether it (pneumonic plague) has appeared here in the US.

As of this date, NO, it has not made the move to this country, but with air travel, it is only one flight away.  Watch cities which have an international airport, but don't restrict your watch to only those cities.  A carrier is just a likely to get on a bus, car, train and travel to other cities.

It might be a good idea to review our plans for medical isolation and be ready to change our daily habits, such as avoiding crowded public areas (malls, supermarkets, theaters, sporting events, etc.).  It isn't time to do this, yet, but having plans in place make it easier to make a fast change in behavior.

Doing some online research would be wise, assuming your sources are both reliable and not censored "in the interest of public safety"...  Paranoia is your friend...

bubonic plague and pneumonic plague are actually the same disease but bubonic the most common and pneumonic the most deadly. Do we know what causes one form to change into the other?

This is a PDF from the US CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)...

https://www.cdc.gov/plague/resources/235098_Plaguefactsheet_508.pdf

The disease is caused by one bacterium, the different names reflect where and how the infection enters the organism.

https://www.cdc.gov/plague/transmission/index.html

Read the first page of the PDF (2 pages long, 489KB)  for this information.

It is treatable with an antibiotic.  Ask your doctor or pharmacist about this.

The CDC has this to say (PDF) about treatment:

https://www.cdc.gov/plague/resources/Recommended-antibiotics-for-plague_revision-Aug-2015_Final-(00000002).pdf

I link to this story to illustrate how we can be our own worst enemies...

http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/the-plague-is-airborne-and-its-spreading-because-people-are-literally-dancing-with-corpses_10262017

While this is NOT a practice found in the rest of the world, it does expose living people, who then can board transports to other parts of the world, potentially spreading disease(s).

Not much we can do to avoid this, except to keep watch and hope that problems are reported by the "media" in time for us to begin quarantine steps.

Supposedly, our own (in the US) CDC is tracking this, but their reporting is neither widely read nor quick enough to stop an outbreak in its beginning stages.
