One Lives or Six Die - Choices

Excellent food for thought video on refugee management as to charity food giveaway. A reality check. See our Policy for the charity giving food and vital supplies below.

One Lives or Six Die - Choices

These things need to be dealt with now.  Many people try to defend themselves psychologically from harsh choices by mentally "kicking the can down the road" but even then (if one is intellectually honest) one must still ask, "after the can is kicked - what THEN?"  And that hard choice still remains.  Best to think about these things while you are clear-headed.

•   Policy for the charity giving food and vital supplies- Our Christian principals compel us to “feed the hungry” if we can but not at the endangerment of Group members or their families. The share of food gathering and production knowledge is the preferred form of charity. Along with the sharing of equipment and seeds in joint ventures with less prepared neighbors if authorized by the Administration Board. Group personal may share individual meals with others, unless the Medical Leader advised agents it. Use considerable caution! We are not looking at normal, rational people here, under these circumstances. There will be criminals who will realize that food is the true money of the times and believe that if you can’t defend it, you don’t deserve to have it. They conclude that you must be incredibly wealthy in food to give it away and the group will become a prime target.

•   Charity Giving Priorities
o   First priority will be the immediate family of Group members, who are not Group members themselves, maybe voted into the Group, as full or limited members, even at the last minute, if a current member pledges enough food to support them in accordance to Rule 15 and the Administration Board approves, by a simple majority vote, with the Administration Leader breaking dead locks, running the meetings and have veto power (75% vote to override). Considerations are to further cement the Group cohesiveness, to increase Group numbers or to add a special skill.

o   Secondary priority will be other Group relatives and kin as “charity begins at home”. When times are tough, bonds of kinship count, however, not at the endangerment of the Group.

o   Third priority will be the immediate retreat neighbors and close friends especially in establishing cooperative food production efforts and a cooperative armed neighborhood watch and training in handling treat of local violence and theft.

o   Fourth priority will be the members of the local Catholic and Protestant religious community with assistance in food production, health support and defense. This will likely be established in later recovery phases when the retreat is more established.

o   Fifth priority will be the members of the local village and township. This will most likely in the later recovery phases and will include participation in community defenses, food production and health support measures.

o   Sixty priority and last priority call on charity will be transient strangers. Avoid feeding or distributing food to strangers from the retreat as it is dangerous to do so. If surplus food to give at all, it should be distributed through a local church or village hall. Always direct hungry strangers away from the retreat itself and to another food distribution point.

The concept is sound and points to the need to seriously think about how each of us will handle (is handling) charitable donations.
