Chicken Manure Composting

If you plan on having chickens, then you should plan on using their manure for your garden.

I have personal experience with using chicken manure compost and I can highly recommend it.

A couple of notes on my experience:

1)  If you live in a wet climate (I was in western Washington state), then you can lose some nutrients from your compost as the rain washes your compost pile.  Cover with lose plastic or boards to shed some of that water.  Some water is needed... Dry compost materials will not digest.

2)  If you put hour compost pile IN the chicken pen, the hens will turn over the top six inches or so as they hunt for bugs.  This is good for them and good fohttp://readynutrition.com/resources/the-ultimate-chicken-crap-composting-guide_16012017/r the compost.  You STILL NEED TO TURN THE PILE WEEKLY.
