Raising Chckens using "Deep Litter"

I've raised chickens in the past, but have not tried this method, so I cannot recommend it one way or the other.

The description of the method and possible benefits (less disease and easier maintenance) are given in enough detail to make it do-able.

For those of us who are currently raising chickens, I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

The type of materials used for coop litter are also interesting and may have an effect on how well this works.
