Let me point out that the core of this article is about "practice", not just simple planning, but actually going through the motions of an actual bug-out drill.  If you've had any military experience, you understand this, but for those who don't, please understand that practice makes your actions faster, in a real situation, and reduces the level of stress because you don't need to stop and think about what needs to be done.. (sorry, long sentence, but necessary).

I hope you read the article, but more than that, I hope you put this into practice (pun implied).
