For all those preppers interested in ham radio and all it can do for us, let's get together and plan a fun weekend camp trip during ARRL Field Day.
This year it is on the weekend of June 25 and 26.
What we need to do:
1. Put the date on your calendar
2. Determine where to camp
3. Show up and have a good time
This event is open to everyone, licensed radio operator or not.
Come join the fun, see what radio can do for us, learn, enjoy and share.
Reply to this topic to join the event and let's get the ball rolling.
Post your ideas and thoughts on what you want to do and learn.

I am in.
I want to get some experience with my M710 HF rig and portable HF antenna, get a couple of radios programmed, and set up a log book. And figure out a way for me to remember call signs so I can respond properly to calls.
Also test out my portable power system, that I hope to have ready by then.
Just my opinion.

Another excuse to go camping. I'm in.

Now that our Summer campout date is set for June 18, 19....
Will you want to camp two weekends in a row and still do Prepper Field Day?
-
I am game.
Just my opinion.
-
Shall we begin a list of who's going to participate in Field Day Camp?
Also, suggestions where to go and start soon in case we have to reserve a spot.
Churchill was mentioned.
I'd prefer to keep it in Nevada if we can.
-
Definitely Nevada.
Ft. Churchill Group site if there are enough of us to share the cost. The individual sites if just 2 to 4 of us.
I am in.

Sadly, Ft. Churchill is not available the weekend of June 25, 26.
Please submit more ideas pronto.
I'll do the legwork on this but would like to know where people want to camp.
I'm alright with just going out into the wild somewhere if that's what we want.
Please advise.

A quick overview using the links given:
Fees vary from site to site... Ouch...
Dayton = 10 campsites, first come, first served, bring your own firewood. Not clear if reservations are available on labor day weekend.
Lawhanton = Unknown number of campsites, "primative" camping on the beach. Bring your own firewood.
Indian Creek = 19 sites, first come first served. Tents only on installed tent pads. Group area NOT open for reservation on Labor day weekend. but does have camping area. Dead and downed wood may be collected for firewood on the BLM land. May be lower cost site.

I am liking Dayton the most.
Just my opinion.

We're going to Dayton State Park.
More info will be posted.
Please contact me at k7kbj@arrl.net if you want a map, talk in frequency, more info.
Let us know if you will be joining us so we can try to save space.
We will be showing up at Dayton State Park early on Friday June the 24th.
Camping space is on a first come, first served basis.

NOW CONFIRMED!
I get to go. I will be there. Audrey was kind enough to take care of my commitment, thus freeing me up so I can go.
I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks Ken for putting it together!

Have to travel over the hill that weekend for work and sadly won't be able to attend although it sounds like a blast.
