HI Josh

Impromptu shelters. Hmmm, im still trying to find a good cold weather lightweight sleepimg bag for my packs that doesnt cost a fortune! Lol
8:07:42 PM
TWP
Josh, check the mil. surplus store for bags.
8:09:12 PM
Josh K7ZIM
I limit my visits to those as my eyes are far bigger then my budget! Lol! I may have to soon thp. Ive been slacking on my sheltering capabilities.
8:09:28 PM
TWP
I'm looking for a cheap tent, at least two people plus storage space.
8:10:55 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Ive been eyeballing bivy tents for packs. Some good ones out there from Australia. But spendy!
8:11:25 PM
TWP
My budget is limited, probably $70 or less.
RE Fred AC1BO, Space blanket material does not breath and will make you colder because of condensation from breath and sweating.
8:13:42 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Oil canvas could work well. You could build your own, get in it what you want and save some $? Canvas from walmart isnt too expensive.
8:14:40 PM
TWP
Josh, I hadn't thought of canvas due to weight, but I'll look at Walmarts options.
8:15:42 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Its always a toss up for weight vs utility. And the prices are ridiculous online!
8:16:28 PM
TWP
Price wise, a used/surplus tent may give me a better cost.
8:17:48 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Check hunting pages on fb too, sometimes there's people getting rid of some good stuff post hunting season.
8:18:05 PM
TWP
Right now, I use multiple tarps, bungie cords and rope.
Hmm. Farcebook is a no go for me. I avoid the social media like the proverbial plague.

Get a good sleeping bag with a lot of loft, add a liner to it.  It not only keeps it cleaner but adds about 10 degrees extra warmth.

Most folks are happy being a part of the Great Shepherds Flock.
Some folks choose to be wolves and prey on the flock.
Some folks choose to defend the flock and confront the wolf.

The tin cloth I had seen and several recipes.

And I knew the recipe for the oil cloth. But I had not thought about using it with a sheet for a lightweight product. I think that would be perfect to make the custom Whelen tent I mentioned during the radio net meeting. Oh boy. Another project!

Thank you WolfBrother.

Just my opinion.
