Are there pellet stoves that will burn regular wood?
8:16:57 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Hi wbmayberry !
8:16:57 PM
TWP
I will post a list of resources for alternate home heating options, on NNPG.net after the net closes.

SAX, maybe you could find a pellet stove that would do that but I'd imagine that would be difficult now that I know how this works.

In a SHTF scenario, pellets will be hard to come by...

RE burning wood in a "pellet" stove, yes, but you must deal with an ash buildup. Pellets do not produce much ash but wood does...

N7SAX
OK

And the pellet stove is designed for the minimum ash content.
Not sure how you could make it handle more.
8:19:10 PM
N7SAX
I understand the ash build-up

If you lose electrical power, you must hand feed the pellet stove and just do frequent ash removal.
Another factor is the blower which feeds air into the firebox.

Good to know
This stove does have some natural draft so I could burn regular wood but wow, what a mess !
8:25:22 PM
TWP
Ken, does you pellet stove have a hand crank to drive the pellet screw?
8:26:05 PM
Ken K7KBJ
No, only a motor
