Title: (Update 10/27/16) Livestock lessons from a farmer
Post by: TWP on October 26, 2016, 06:03:36 AM
Excellent multi-part article.  I will update this post as the other parts become available:

Part 1) https://survivalblog.com/lessons-learned-in-livestock-part-1-by-c-k/ (https://survivalblog.com/lessons-learned-in-livestock-part-1-by-c-k/)

Talks about Rabbits, Guinea Hogs, Goats, Bees, Chickens, Ducks and Geese, Cats and Sheep.

Part 2) https://survivalblog.com/lessons-learned-in-livestock-part-2-by-c-k/ (https://survivalblog.com/lessons-learned-in-livestock-part-2-by-c-k/)

The topic is livestock that is NOT recommended for the prepper homestead:  Guinea Fowll, Horses, Beef Cattle, Milk Cows and Turkeys.  It also talks about auctions as source of homestead goods, a used dump truck and small tractor.

The author also cautions against squash due to a problem with insect damage and the need for chemical abatement.  My personal experience is that this did not become a problem where I was located.  YMMV.
He recommends more root crops in a garden.
