First, Nevada is NOT on this list...

https://homesteadsurvivalsite.com/top-10-states-living-off-grid/

The author gives a detailed list of the criteria by which this list was evaluated.  It is worth reading when/if you decide to change to another state of residence, even if you DON'T plan on going off-grid.

   I'm not sure why the writer called Missouri, "Montana". Nobody will ever confuse the two states. The article is accurate on most points but I believe what he meant to say that the laws don't require for a home to be connected to  the sewer system. we can use septic systems, especially here in the country. They are correct on ease of using solar, grid-tied or not and rain water collection systems.

Missouri, Montana... They both begin with "M" right?  I mean how much difference can there be?  ::)

I hope you have finished digging out from the snow drifts by the time summer is over...

You just found the BIG difference between Missouri and Montana. They have MOUNTAINS. We have hills called the Ozarks... in the south end of the state. They have SNOW, We have RAIN.

Then your preps include floatation jackets rather than snow shovels.  Stay dry and prep on.

As a Missouri resident, that "Montana" thing was an ouchie. As a writer, it was a "well, it happens". As a blogger, it was "wow, let's see how many keywords we can stack into one article that is almost exactly 1500 words of content, and trigger every SEO key in the book.

As to his point, there's a reason I live where I do. It's a great state to be a prepper, as long as you are a couple hundred miles away from St. Louis (or more).

Gasp, Expression of Shock!  You mean the author might have been practicing unlicensed SEO?  Why, that's just... well, possible...  ::)

But the Men in Black will be on to him, rest assured...  8)

russ,

Why not suggest that the governor join the current movement to split states?  He could get rid of a PITA part of the state if he did it right...  :-X

I'd sure rather be there than 13 miles outside of St. Louis, if I had to make a choice.

In the early days, the settlers would band together and build their houses nearby for safety....it seems that we have to do the opposite now....sad.

pengyou, maybe that is because some people like living in the danger zone?  ;D

Same people who hold hurricane parties along the US East Coast...

Not for me!  ::)
