Disclaim, I don't represent either the author nor IKEA and I'm
not sure this is a workable housing solution for colder climates.
Plus this product is NOT yet available in single units. Minimum order is 96 units, $1100 each.
That being said, it is a low cost idea for quick (3 hour assembly) shelter. Each packaged unit is claimed to fit in a pickup bed.
The units can be linked together to make a larger connected space.
http://anamericanhomestead.com/ikea-off-grid-tiny-house-for-1100/All that being said, I could see one or two of these units being cached at a BOL, suitably camouflaged or buried for future need.
The minimum insulation (it has a little) might be supplemented using foam insulation sheets. An added cost.
No mention of any option for using a wood stove, but it would be much easier to make a chimney pipe hole in a roof panel, before final assembly. Stove pipe kits are readily available in most hardware stores.
The unit DO NOT include a floor, so you must price this added cost into a purchase.
Something to consider, should these ever reach the retail stores. If that happens, the price will, beyond doubt, be higher...
