Title: Soap - Why include in prepper stock
Post by: TWP on March 27, 2017, 09:03:38 AM
We keep a minimum of soap and soap products, just what we need for day-to-day usage.

I do have a couple of bars of hand soap in my BOB, but nothing more.

What led me to this post is the thread:

I normally don't link to PF, because of the attitude differences expressed there ( >:( >:( :P :P :-[ :-\ :-\ :'( ) but this thread contains some good advice and recommendations.

So, How much soap do you think should be stored for the next crisis?  Why?

Let me state the argument for not being noticed at 100 yards because of body odor.  Yes, that is one reason to stock soap.  Anything else?

I'll argue that our clothing will last longer if keep reasonably clean.

Soap should be a very important part in your health plans as a preventive of sickness.   I have a bad habit of buying packages of my favorite soap and dawn dish soap when on sale.  High quality soap would probably be pretty barterable when the ready supply is depleted.

;D Not a bad habit at all...

The soap making skill would be a major benefit when the supply of oils or fats become stable after an "event"

You also very correct with respect to the health benefits of soap for cleanliness.

Unscented soap would be best so there is nothing to give your position away.  In regards to both 2 and 4 foot creatures.
