This is a water-wheel driven spiral pump which can be built with available parts.
The plans are detailed and the testing appears to be very thought with many suggestions
on how to use it at various heads. It was tested at heads to 80 feet, which is very adequate
to filling a storage tank. It is also self starting.
The only danger I see is from freezing, which could burst the plastic pipe used in the coil pump.
This could be addressed by manually reversing the pump to drain the coil when a freeze threatens.
Compare this to the more familiar "ram' pump which can do higher heads, but is prone to stop and require
manual restarting.
