Dandelion Root - Harvesting and Using

Advice on drying the roots for long term storage (1-2 yeas is a good estimate of storage life).

Now is the time to go hunting for Dandelion roots.  Avoid the areas near roadways as they may be contaminated by vehicle exhaust.

NOTE: This is a DIURETIC, which means it will cause your body to lose liquids as urine.  Be ready to replace that water so you do not risk dehydration.

I have found that when you harvest dandelion rood you do not need to kill the plant. Although they are notoriously hard to kill, dandelion root can be harvested by cutting an inch or two from the top (crown) and replanting for harvesting in the future. They where originally brought from Europe as a salad plant (through leaf, root and flower are all eatable) and should be part of your medical and stealth garden at least.
