Hi all
Tonight's topic: give us your tips and advice for getting your homestead ready for winter.
8:09:15 PM
TWP
Sorry, I burned dinner... Had to do a quick stir...
Re winter preps, we live in an apartment. That means switching to winter clothing from storage. Not much we can do to "winterize" the apartment itself.
HI jos, Hi Glenda
Josh...
8:11:37 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Mmmmmm I love well done !

Hi twp.im in the same boat, apartment living.
8:12:27 PM
TWP
Macaroni, its whats for dinner. High carbon content tonight.
Fortunately the pork chops were done first.
Re preps, I did go through all my batteries, charged those that need it and changed the flashlight cells.

Rob K9RVM
I grabbed my get home bag for my trip tomorrow but it didn't occur to me to grab my winter bag and put it in the truck until it was just mentioned. I need to do that this weekend and rotate my drinking water in the truck.
And I just remembered that I have a couple of propane tanks I should get refilled. I'm glad we're talking about this tonight.

Ken K7KBJ
I might be going over the pass on Sunday. Gotta get my rig ready for that trip.
It's possible I might take the Highway 50 route by the lake instead.
8:24:29 PM
KG7MZO - Glenda
Sorry guys, gotta run

I topped off my fuel tanks in Fernley last week at 35 cents a gallon cheaper than in Reno so I should be good for a few months with diesel.
8:27:34 PM
Ken K7KBJ
And you'll be able to stay warm if you get stranded!
8:32:06 PM
Rob K9RVM
I probably should shake out my get home and EDC bags just to do a medicine rotation and make sure the food bars are still good. The older I get the heavier those bags get so I may have to dump some gear.
8:32:50 PM
Ken K7KBJ
I did a quick calculation, each year weighs about 18 lbs !
8:35:21 PM
Rob K9RVM
I carry gear I'm convinced I'll need someday and in all the years I've had it packed I have never pulled it out even once in all the events and training I've done. I can probably do without it.
8:36:30 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Ya im a packrat when it comes to stuff i think would be useful "just in case"
8:37:21 PM
Rob K9RVM
Same here. Each time I do the bags I can't convince myself not to keep some of the items in there.
8:38:25 PM
Ken K7KBJ
I have a few cargo containers filled with "just in case". Anybody want some?
8:39:07 PM
Rob K9RVM
If I ever had to hike that bag back home more than a few miles I'll be dropping so much weight that it'll look like it was leaking an Army surplus store behind me.
8:39:25 PM
Josh K7ZIM
I'll take a cargo container! Lol!
8:39:42 PM
TWP
Ken, sure, I could use a cargo container. Give me a chance to dig the hole first...
8:42:36 PM
Ken K7KBJ
Wait ! I'm giving away the "Just in case", not the container !!!
HAHAHAHAHA
8:43:02 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Lol!
8:43:30 PM
Ken K7KBJ
I can picture Rob in front of a crooked trail of survival trinkets !
8:45:22 PM
Rob K9RVM
The last time I dumped the bag to check everything in it and replace expired stuff it looked like Walmart threw up in my living room. It was a bit "over the top", even for me. But I still repacked it all...just in case.
8:45:39 PM
Ken K7KBJ
HAHAHAHA
8:46:50 PM
N7SAX
good night thanks to all.
8:46:53 PM
Josh K7ZIM
Ya, now i just buy a new pack and start filling it. I have 4 now amd a dufflebag.
Night sax

Good Night all
8:47:45 PM
Rob K9RVM
I've done the same thing. I hope they don't make a 500 qt. back pack or I'm in trouble.
