Cheese Waxing
« on: November 30, 2015, 11:28:46 AM »
This is a very good way to preserve your cheese without the need for refrigeration.

We buy bricks of cheese (5 lb.) and open the package to create a rind.  Then follow the waxing
recipe in this article:  You may find it easier to cut the brick into smaller pieces.

REMEMBER, Wash your hands and all utensils to prevent mold contamination of the moist cheese.

If you have cow or goats, then you are more than halfway to making your own cheese.

I am still stumped on how to make the wax in a SHTF situation.  Beeswax would be needed...

I am stocking up on beeswax for a variety of purposes. Every time I find some for a good price I get from a pound to ten pounds at a time.

Just my opinion.

Jerry, do you have a local source for beeswax?

And will you post this vital piece of information?

The times I have found it locally were at the gun shows. The guy has not been at the shows the last year. I understand he is a local bee keeper. But I do not know if CCD has affected him or not. I will see what I can find out.

Just my opinion.
