Title: Food storage plan, yearly
Post by: TWP on July 14, 2015, 05:00:43 PM
This is a very good article, with links to food sources and the plan itself in a downloadable PNG image.

The amount of food is for a family of four and the total storage space needed is fairly small.
This is do-able for most people with moderate income.  The total cost is listed as under $1800.00

Note the recommendation (and caution) on using the LDS "storehouses" for buying food.
We have such a storehouse in Reno.  I have not used it and your advice is requested.

Also note the caution about the actual value of some canned food units, in weight vs calorie count vs servings.

I was going to make several comments on this subject, but they would trollish, so I will leave it be.

I will make one, however. I am glad comfort foods were included. Not everyone considers the benefits they have in stressful situations.

Just my opinion.

Jerry,  Re comfort foods.

I think the trick is to either learn to make an acceptable version of the comfort food using your prepper supplies,
or, change your food preferences now, while we have time.

I do admit that the idea of eating freeze dried fruit chips is just not in my comfort food list.

I agree for the most part TWP, however, many comfort foods can take the place nutritionally of other, less palatable foods. It could be ingredients for homemade pasta sauce rather than canned, or extra freeze dried hamburger and other ingredients to make grandma's special meatloaf. Or it could be some Hershey bars. Might be premium liquor. It is different for every person and family, but it is important that each person has some things to take their mind off their troubles, at least for a while.

Just my opinion.
