I will add the relative ease of growing tomatoes.  They can be grown even in a window or patio bed.  Sure, you will not be able to grow as many as you want, but some is better than none.

For those with limited growing space, I would recommend "cherry" tomatoes, because they are prolific and relatively small size plants.

Growing indoors means that YOU must play the role of "bee" and pollinate the blossoms using a small, soft bristle brush.  It is not difficult to do.  It is also a good way to relax...
