This is a fairly simple way to add sliding storage under a bed. It uses minimal vertical space, which leaves more space for your "stuff".

You could use simply a sheet of unpainted wood, with the carpet sliders. Adding the rim and paint is just "bells and whistles" which don't add functionality. I would cut a finger hole in the leading edge to make it easier to pull with one hand.
