I tend to be a packrat with respect to cordage and keep everything I can find. It's all good, if somewhat bulky.
I like paracord for my tents and tarps, but larger rope has more uses, such as heavy pulls

gaffers tape does not leave the residue duct tape does. Our disaster team mainly uses it. Better to use on tents.

RE nylon, it is not good for cold weather usage. I tried it when climbing Mt. St. Helens (pre eruption) and it just got too hard for easy handling.
