Basically, it's ok as long as you use a microphone with only a push to talk button.
Some of us use bluetooth headsets
It is certainly NOT illegal

A thing I learned about living without refrigeration: if you have food in a pot, like a soup or gravy or whatever, as long as you bring it to a boil everyday you should be fine. I learned about that from The Book of Household Management written in the 1850's. I've been experimenting with several pots of beans, just keeping it for a week by heating it up to boiling everyday, and I haven't gotten sick yet, LOL.
8:43:01 PM
TWP
Jefferson, we do that with the crockpot, daily reheat and new ingredients.
8:44:46 PM
K9RVM
You're the first person that has had practical experience doing that I've heard from. Interesting that it doesn't build up any bacteria in the food. I would have thought otherwise.
8:46:03 PM
Jefferson
I think the boiling kills the bad stuff in the pot. A pot of food might last 4 or 5 days, so I'm not sure about going longer than that.
8:46:28 PM
TWP
It CAN go back if you miss a reheat cycle. Smell and texture are a good clue about how trustworthy it is. Taste will show sour flavor too.
8:46:31 PM
KG7MZO
I have never heard of that either. Does it matter if there's dairy in the ingredients?
8:46:36 PM
Jefferson
TWP I have a goal of always having a crock pot going, but I don't take the time
8:47:32 PM
TWP
KG7MZO, I use dairy in my "soups", no problem if they are heated to boiling, regularly
8:47:42 PM

For winter camp we'll be adding cast iron open fire cooking. I may have to try that and feed it to Ken over the weekend to see if he gets sick or not. I'm interested in trying that.

I also need to find one of the stoves we saw at PrepperCon and get it into the preps. I keep looking for one second hand but they aren't being sold too often at a reasonable price.

I've use the manual washer in the preps and it's amazing how well it cleans. I put in some really dirty jeans and shirt in it and they came out better than a regular washer for little effort and soap.

I was curious about those too
Good to know they work, I'll look into getting one, especially with this teenager in the house

there's a washboard in storage as well if you want to get crazy and give that a shot as well

There is a historical basis to this - the oldest printed recipe in England:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pease_Porridge_Hot

Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold,
Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old;
Some like it hot, some like it cold,
Some like it in the pot, nine days old.[3][4]

Origin
The origins of this rhyme are unknown. The name refers to a type of porridge made from peas, pease pudding, also known in Middle English as pease pottage. ("Pease" was treated as a mass noun, similar to "oatmeal", and the singular "pea" and plural "peas" arose by back-formation.)

------------------------------

British Food in America
A note on pease pudding, or, mariners’ fare in the seventeenth century.

Pease pudding, or pease pottage and sometimes peas porridge, is one of the oldest recipes printed in English and also one of the most prevalent dishes eaten at sea in the seventeenth century. . . . . .
