Venezuela's economic failure (near total system collapse) has been in the news for many months.
The current situation is driving people to attempt to escape to neighboring countries...
The problem is that legal passports are not available...

In the US, our options are more limited: Canada or Mexico. Of course you may plan on flying out, but that assumes that airlines are still flying planes when you need to get away.
As you make your plans, did you include the option to leave the country?
We might think this option is only for fairly remote situation, but then the people of Venezuela thought that way too.
