Water Quality - How good is yours?

I'm sure we've all seen the recent reports on lead poisoning in Michigan.

However, the problem may be wider spread than is being reported.

I make NO claim to the accuracy of this report, and they (Reuters(r) ) does not offer any links to verifiable sources.  So take this for what it is worth.

NOTE:  A fraction of these reports are related to paint, pipes and other material used in construction of homes and buildings.  Another fraction are sourced from the well water itself.

There is an "interactive" map linked in the story which claims to show lead contamination across the USA.  It is worth viewing for your region.  Some states lack adequate information on lead, so take this with the proverbial grain of salt (it may not be realistic).

The key lesson here is that now would be a good time to test for lead and other contaminants in your planned bug-out location...  Whether that be you present home or your planned destination.

There are filters which can remove some (most?) of some contaminants.  How long such filters would last is a very pointed question to be asked before purchasing filters.  If you cannot move to a less contaminated location, can you afford to stockpile enough filters to last a lifetime?
