Yogurt in Your Crock Pot

I like Yogurt...

So this recipe is as simple as it gets (not so simple really)...  Welcome to homestead bio-culture studies.

You can do this on a wood stove too.  Just be proficient at controlling the heat.  Practice, Practice, Practice.

You can even do it without a thermometer, but this will take some serious attention to how hot the milk / yogurt needs to be and what is TOO hot.  Get a thermometer and then start learning how hot it FEELS vs what the thermometer says.

You CAN use an ACTIVE CULTURE yogurt bought from your local store as a starter.  Just read the label and avoid the yogurt that has been "pasturized" to kill the culture before sale.

For those who don't yet have a taste for yogurt, remember that it is excellent nutrition and can keep better than raw milk.  It can also be dehydrated for even longer storage life.   The dehydrated culture becomes you starter for the next batch...
