Dealing with Bees in Trees
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:18:13 AM »
Since Bees are our friends, giving us their services (pollination) in return for providing honey, it would be good idea to know how to handle any "wild" hives in your trees.

This article gives some basic details on how to work with, move, or just tolerate a local bee colony.

In a PAW, bees are a very desirable commodity and well worth moving to a location which you control.

Please follow the several links in the article for more information and sources of bee keeping tools.

If you have "bee phobia" and don't want to be around bees, then DO find someone you trust who either already knows how to work with bees or at least someone who is willing to learn.

Any group would be well served to have a member who is the designated "bee keeper".  Add this to your list of desirable skill... ;D

Remember, without Bees, YOU must engage in plant pollination by hand.  This is time consuming at the least and will take you away from other tasks which might be higher priority...  On the other hand, having food to eat is pretty high on my list of "things I must do". ::)
