I found this video (22 min.) to be good analysis of how groups work, specifically Prepper groups.

If your view of prepping is that being a "loner" is better, then please watch this video. It won't convince you to change your mind, but it will give you some food for thought.
As an example or case-in-point, I give you our onn group (NNPG) which has many members, and a subset of those are actively interacting with each other.
Another subset is learning from us and may someday join the first subset and start practicing... Welcome, when I meet you.
