Checking for spinal injury in the field
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:12:16 AM »
Some good information, with excellent pictures and diagrams, on how to assess a possible spinal injury "in the field"

http://www.itstactical.com/medcom/medical/backcountry-emergencies-learn-identify-spinal-injuries/

This is not medical advice, so don't assume you know everything you need to know from this article.

I post it in case one of us every finds ourselves involved in such an accident.

DO NOT ASSUME that your assessment is correct, but use it to positively identify that the injury has negatively effected some part of the victims body... And then take appropriate action.

DO get first aid training in this and other techniques, before you need to know them...

DO NOTE the injury suffered by the example case, simply from being left on the ground without protection for hours after the accident.
