This may pertain to you for several reasons:
1) You may already live in a Cold Climate and are either unwilling or unable to move.
2) The climate may change and you find your self in cold conditions (Yeah, it could go the other way too).
3) You plan on moving to an area which qualifies as a "cold climate".

What is subsistence farming? Subsistence farming, at its core, means a farm is capable of growing enough food to feed the farmer and his or her family. In a world where food is constantly modified and sprayed with chemicals in order to have better shipping and production costs, subsistence farming is becoming a new trend. To feed a family of four, the family would only need approximately two acres of land. This is land used for farming vegetables and wheat in addition to land used to raise livestock. Both are important aspects to subsistence agriculture.
