Title: Canning cream cheese
Post by: lavauneandtracey on October 30, 2015, 02:48:48 PM
Hi all long time no see or hear in that case

Some time back we had talked to a couple people (before the website) about canning cream cheese well here is our results
About a year ago we canned about 8 jelly size canning jars via the method mentioned in many places the same was as butter, yes butter. We just finished off the first jar and it was just fine and tasted normal. We will open another at the 15 month window and every 3 months from now on until we go through it. This may not be a high need item for preps but what an item to trade to someone who values it as a must have or desperately needs.
That's all for now maybe we'll be able to get back to the games nights again and see everyone.
            TTFN

Do you have link to the processing instructions?
Could you post them here or in the recipes forum below?

This one is specifically cream cheese http://www.paratusfamiliablog.com/2010/11/canning-cream-cheese.html?m=1

This is the butter one http://frontierfreedom.blogspot.com/2010/12/canning-butter.html?m=1

As the first one stats "canning dairy products is not recommended by the FDA..." We had got lots of cream cheese that more than likely would have gone bad had we not tried this. After a year we are happy with the results and may do this again down the road when we go through what we have and knowing how long it will last.... Stay tuned!

Thank you!
Your second link also contained a link to another article on canning cheese, hard and soft:
