This is a PDF file. 1.4 MB

The Recipe itself is GOOD ADVICE.

The author makes a claim which he does not support with any references, so make your own decision on how much trust you place...

The claim is that eating just "properly made" pemmican does not result in vitamin deficiency diseases, such a Scurvy.

Personally, I'd eat something in addition to the pemmican, if it were available.  For the short term, which could be months in length, Pemmican does offer a good (excellent) food source.  It is also a light weight and compressed ( low volume ) food stock.

I would try to add something with fiber to this diet, to satisfy the human digestive system.

One important thing to remember is to use real tallow (the hard fat around the kidneys) not fat from muscle trim or abdominal fat. This is important in keeping you Pemmican from going rancid. The best keeping pemmican has no berries or fruit added though this is better for vitamin content.
