This post lists a few garden plants which are claimed to need little water. (YMMV).

Note that we also are in a drought, and we live next to the "State of Brown".
What are you doing, here, to address the water problem?
Do you have a preference for food plants which need little water?
I see that we have some advantage because we've been living in the desert
for much longer than our next-door neighbors, so we should have more, practical,
experience...
