Drills You May (Should) Practice
« on: March 07, 2017, 08:13:22 AM »
Practice, Practice, Practice...

Eleven Drills to practice with your family/group.

http://modernsurvivalonline.com/prepping-and-survival-drills-to-run/

Each drill has a checklist and recommended method.

You may adjust to fit your exact situation, but the outline of each drill is very good as it is presented

1)  Bugging In
2)  Bugging Out
3)  Gathering the Family
4)  House Fires
5)  Flooding
6)  Riots
7)  Emergency Shelters
 8)  Fire Building
9)  First Aid
10)  Water Purification
11)  Predators

When you have a non-prepper spouse it limits what you can do.

My wife would consider the house fire but that would be all.

My son has the skills for fire building, First Aid, Water Purification, and shelter building from Boy Scouts.  (A good work around)

If I were to suggest a drill for a Bug In, Bug Out, Flooding, Riots or protect from Predators I would be told I am crazy and end up in a divorce.

So I prep as I can for things.

Any other suggestion I would gladly welcome.

How about camping, hunting or fishing trips?  It can offer lots of "learning" opportunities, under the guise of recreation...

The list of equipment might (strangely) resemble Bug Out preps and a list is just natural, so you don't "forget" anything...

I can relate to your situation as we are also a somewhat "divided" house on what is most likely to to happen in TEOTWAKI...

Charlie and I camp a lot with either Boy Scouts or reenacting (fur trade 1700 style).
She said she liked camping when we were going out and went twice but never since then.

I buy gear to handle a group of four at least.
I am testing out new items "for camping" to see what works as I want it to.
If the SHTF then I will bring it out and say lets go and see if she will, but I am not sure she would go.

In my case, there is some unwillingness to "rough it" and I've considered getting a truck with camper unit, just to give the appearance of having the amenities of home living.

At least you can acquire "stuff" under the "camping" umbrella.  It beats not having it when the need arises.

Let's hope that the need to go will be so obvious that it looks safer than staying.
