This is a relatively simple process.  NOT TO BE DONE INDOORS

There is abundant Pine trees from which you can "pick" resin balls.   You don't actually need to score the bark as shown in the article, but it is an option.  One reason NOT to do this is that it leaves a "tell" which indicates that you are in the area.  You might not want to be that obvious about your presence...

One advantage of resin is that the candles melt at higher temperatures and will store better than wax candles.

Wax may not be available, even from bee hives...  The bees don't produce a large quantity of wax and you don't want to waste a whole hive just for some candle wax.  Leave the bees to make honey.

Petroleum wax (what you currently buy in stores as "canning wax") may not be available, post "event".
