We (most of us) have a tool box for building or fixing our equipment.
Do you also have an electronics repair kit?
Do you have spare parts for fixing those electronic devices?
This article is a good read on why most people just throw away broken electronics, particularly cell phones.
https://spectrum.ieee.org/green-tech/conservation/why-we-must-fight-for-the-right-to-repair-our-electronicsI'll agree, most do not have the skills to fix modern electronic devices, mostly because of the high degree of integration of parts. (no not that kind of integration). But we could, if the manufacturers would allow it AND would sell replacement parts.
In a prepper crisis situation, having both the knowledge AND the ability to fix your comms equipment may be a lifesaver...
[edit] Let me draw your attention to the electronics in vehicles, INCLUDING modern tractors. This last vehicle has been a serious problem for farmers who are being required to only use factory authorized service shops. In a crisis, you will not be able to get the spare parts. This is being litigated, but that doesn't change the problem of finding spare electronics in a PAW.
