The equipment is relatively simple and can (right now) be purchased at local beer and wine brewing supply stores.

You WILL need to collect some recipes and practice using them.  Which really means you need to sample your product and learn to judge quality.  Yes, you can hold a "sampling party" with drinking friends, but do warn them of the experimental nature of your first few batches...
