Politics - California 'three states' plan OK'd for November ballot

Keep on eye on this in the next 6 months.  It could be just another "tempest in a teapot", but tempers are high in California (and other states like Washington and Oregon).

Should this legislation actually pass, expect to see people vote with their feet and move, either to another state or within a (new?) state.

Since there is, arguably, a large group of illegal aliens currently in California, I would also expect to see opposition to any vote count, from whichever side loses in November.  This could spill over to other states which also have illegal aliens in "voting" blocks.

Just one more thing to watch as a prepper...

The liberals will never let it happen.
1. From what I have read the North of the state is conservative.
This would change the balance of power in Washington, so they don't want this.
2. The liberals in the SF and LA which probably control the state and all the taxes would not want to lose the revenue.
(If it is like Illinois with Cook County).

I have changed my mind since reading another article on the split.

The North State will include SF so it might have the population to make it a "Blue State".
The coast part will have the LA area so again it would be a "Blue State".
The last part is South part of the state appears more liberal so it would be another "Blue State".

I'd like to see that same map based on this year's (2018) election results.  The primaries, in many states, are swinging more toward conservative candidates, which I think may be a good thing, even with RINOs still in office.

I also note that this three-way CA split is not the same, geographically, as some other reports I've read.

Some splits show the west coast strip as a group, with North and South splitting the rest of the state.  Sacramento AND San Francisco were firmly in the North fraction:

https://www.scpr.org/news/2018/04/13/82266/should-california-split-into-3-states-a-billionair/
NOTE: this is NOT the same division in the current proposal

And this:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/24/calexit-plan-to-divorce-california-from-us-is-getting-a-second-chance.html

This is a case of "follow the money" and "follow the voters".

Tough call either way.  And then there is the CalExit plan to remove California from the USA entirely...

And don't forget the Jefferson movement, to make a new state in the extreme north end, not including Sacramento or San Francisco.

Well, according to this report, the "California split" is having trouble getting traction.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/22/californians-divided-on-whether-how-to-divide.html

Some analysts claim that the current plan, which goes to vote in November 2018, was cleverly designed to ensure no real change in the political climate in each "new" state.  The claim is that conservative voters would be overwhelmed by a few liberal conclaves in each "new" state, thus preventing them from gaining a majority vote.  It's all in how you cut the cake which is California today.

The disagreement could (my speculation) mean a failure (perhaps not a bad thing) of this proposal.  If it does not pass, the status quo in the state will remain unchanged and it will likely take years for another "split" effort to reach the voters.

A failure could also mean some population exodus from the state by those who already feel disenfranchised.  That is one of my prepper fears.

The state of Jefferson is the best solution, but that isn't going to happen easily.

For a small map of the proposed State of Jefferson, scroll down to near the bottom of this page.

Sorry, it is not good quality, but it DOES show the exclusion of both San Francisco and Sacramento.

http://soj51.org/

Something to watch because this proposal, in one form or another, has been around since about 1941...

Clay;

You and I agree on the State of Jefferson proposal.

Sadly, it is not what is going to ballot in November.  The "three state split" was crafted to allow continued control of each new state by the same old party (SOP) which runs California now...

I hope this ballot proposal is defeated because it doesn't allow any real change... Needed change!

Hopefully the State of Jefferson proposal will continue to push for a split along other lines.

I'm reading other comments which discuss the movements to split California, plus plans for Oregon (Orygun), Washington and even Idaho.

Sadly, the last reference was a video (watch the first 3:30 min. on a total 6 min. of video, the rest is an ad for bitcoin...).  At least it was not hosted on Youtube(r)...

https://www.bitchute.com/video/6k4gX2XPhlo/

I DISagree with the commentators statement, near the 3:30 minutes mark, to the affect that this split would be a benefit for Republicans.  I think it is just the opposite.

Let the political dance show continue...

In the early days, the settlers would band together and build their houses nearby for safety....it seems that we have to do the opposite now....sad.
