An international currency should be between national governments only. Every nation should have its own currency.

Just my opinion.

Jerry, re the two currency system.  China has that now.  I'm not sure (really don't know) how well it works for the people who are forced to use it.  Big control issues involved in this, mine and theirs.

It seems like something intended to benefit the government which issues both...

That is true even if the internal currency is issued by our own states.

There is (opinion) no easy solution, but I also see a need to have international exchange currencies (right now, there are three (US Dollar, Gold and to a lesser extent, Silver).  I notice that quiet a few governments are stockpiling Gold...

Cuba has two types of money, one for the rich and tourists, the other for the working people. I'm not sure a system like that is a good thing, because it allows the top to draw a line where everyone bellow is just poor. No middle class.

As for a government only currency, isn't the SDR basically that at this point?

Yes, the SDR is just that.  It's also an accounting tool used to separate the preferred countries and those that don't meet the world bank criteria.

It's a "house of cards" and I do expect it to fail.  The question is when...

When it happens, I want to be out of the way of the "stuff" that will happen.  I'd also like to have a currency that will be accepted by the average customer when I need to buy or sell things.  Like food, tools, labor...

Think of it as "Post SHTF" money.

Yep. SDRs are pretty much what I was talking about. In the same form, or another in the future, denominated in gold, but not backed by it.

Just my opinion.
