Title: Article - The 3 Week Prep
Post by: TWP on March 15, 2018, 07:39:50 AM
If you buy commercial prepper food buckets, DO READ this article.

If your food storage spreadsheet is based on the serving count on food labels, DO READ this article.

Do your serving counts address the need for increased calorie and protein intake in a crisis situation?  Remember that you will be working harder during a crisis...

There have been many articles posted online about why you should NOT TRUST the serving count on food labels.  This article gives a good explanation of just how far those labels are away from reality.

I'll give a general rule of thumb:  Cut the serving count on the label in half; if it says the box or can contains 2 servings, assume that it is only 1 (one) serving.  And Yes, that goes for food which is packaged and sold as "prepper" food stock.

Remember the the USDA estimates for calorie needs are NOT based on an active, stressed lifestyle.  The 2000 calorie per day diet works only for low stress lifestyles and air conditioned living.
